KINE 3P05 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Skeletal Muscle, Myocyte, Cardiac Muscle
Document Summary
Pekn 1p90 lecture 3 skeletal muscle structure/function. Muscle: -compromises largest group of tissues in body. Our form, what you can see striated and voluntary we control it: cardiac muscle. Striated and involuntary works on its own: smooth muscle. Appears throughout the body systems as components of hollow organs and tubes. Unstriated and involuntary automatic works on its own. Classified in two different ways: voluntary vs involuntary and striated vs unstriated. Communication using the small muscles in our hands and face for communication (ie. facial expressions, writing, speaking, etc. ) Control of body openings sphincter muscles - opens and closes when senses pressure. Store glucose (not so obvious) they store muscle glycogen and break into glucose which is secreted into the blood. Origin muscle attachment that is closer to the core end (head) tends to be more proximal. Insertion the bony attachment that attaches to its side bone tends to be more distal. Belly thicker middle region of the muscle.
