Western tradition depicts fictional stories as having plot, beginning, middle and end: life stories are often not that straightforward. 6 elements to every story that do occur in some sequence. Abstract: tells you that story is about to begin. Once upon a time : often also summarizes the story very briefly to create interest. Sets a tone, you want to know what happened. Who are the main actors in the story. Stressed people, people with mental illness, people with degenerative aging diseases often leave out orientation" s. Orientation: john, alice and me were just doing the usual, you know. The figured we would just get something to eat and head home". Something challenges the actor/s in the story, complicates" an otherwise normal day, activity or occurrence. Complication: i never expected to see katie. The story teller must explain why the story is important. Evaluation: when katie broke up with john; they agreed she would never go to bubbles.
