To what extent are we a democracy: political economy. Explanation of how theories and ideologies shape politics and policies. Importance of identification of class for political mobilization. Prevents people from identifying as a class: women"s representation and participation. Proposed solutions: class representation, racial discrimination, social movement and interest groups. How far are they effective in effecting policy. 3 dimensions of canada usa relations: ability to influence usa behaviour, impact of usa on our policy. Canadian foreign policy often about influencing other states. This is why people are okay with just doing what usa does. Ex/ marijuana legislation, usa said if we legalize it usa will shut down boarders. Ex/ after 9/11 usa told us what we would do in concern with security: impact of usa relationship on other international relationships, Outlooks on relationship with usa agreements etc. Siding with usa might advance our interest (in the long run)
