According to modern behavioural neuroscience : the nativists are closer to the truth. We are born with pre-existing behaviour systems that set limits on how learning occurs and how it impacts us. Height can range due to nutrition etc- genetics means you are born with a certain range, depending on your environment (tall parents- more likely to be tall) Innate capability to learn grammar- mommy goed to the grocery store - did not learn that from environment, but constructed pattern from the past tense ed. Elicited behaviour- to evoke a behaviour: in response to a stimulus from the environment, touch a hot stove- your automatic response is to remove your hand. Brain is not involved in reflex action. Afferent neurons- goes from sensory organ to brain: afferent (a)- comes first, touch hot cup- Interneuron (associate neuron)- connects sensory neuron to motor neuron.
