6 year court battle: april 2014: first 3 characters of postal codes of registered sex offenders became publicly available. What is sexual recidivism: arrests, charges, convictions, hospital readmissions. Data from 10 follow-up studies: n = 4724 male sex offenders. Follow-up periods ranged from 5 to 23 years. Overall number of recidivists increases with extended follow-up. The rate of offending decreases the longer offenders had been offense-free: 5 year offense rate: 14, 15 year offense rate: 4% Factors that influence reoffense (hanson & morton-bourgon, 2005) Recidivism data: arrests, reconviction, re-incarcerations, self-report, etc. Outcome variables: any sexual recidivism, violent non-sexual recidivism, any violent recidivism (sexual and non-sexual, any recidivism.
