Anchoring and maintaining these controlling images is sexuality; black women frequently portrayed as either asexual or hypersexual. Hill collins argues that dominant/controlling images of black women (femininity) can be summed up as. Black matriarch- the symbol of the black mother in the home. Welfare mother; lazy women who has too many children whom she cannot support. Black women are frequently reduced to animals or presented in low skilled forms of labour.
