Dna is condensed into visible chromosomes only for brief periods in the life of a cell. Denaturaion is also called meling of dna. Dna strands with similar sequences will form parial duplexes or hybrids with each other. Closer evoluionary relaionship between species = more similar dna sequences. This property is used to ish out a similar gene from diferent species, if the gene sequence from a species is known. Fish- a process which vividly paints chromosomes or porions of chromosomes with luorescent. Aids in gene mapping, toxicological studies, analysis of chromosome structural aberraions, and ploidy determinaion. Cell division demands coordinaion of dna replicaion, mitosis, and cytokinesis. From birth to rebirth, a cell progresses through characterisic stages that consitute the cell cycle. In mulicellular organisms like us, progress through the cell cycle is carefully regulated. Cancer is one outcome of a runaway cell cycle. Mitosis is ater dna replicaion and creates two diploid cells.
