How your evaluation of something is a ected by what your comparing it to. You walk through the snow every morning to go to school. Restaurants will put very expensive items on the menu, to make the others look reasonable. When you are looking at two things that are quite similar the di erences between them become emphasized. Coke and pepsi, if you ask someone which ones which without the label no di erence. Evaluation depends on what you have been studying lately. Believe things because everyone around you believes the same thing. This is why cults try to keep you from talking to people not in the cult. The herd instinct is believing what everyone else does to avoid social con ict. Someone is vegan just because their boyfriend is. When people watch news that are neutral, they think that the news are bias against them.
