The red pyramid is initially intended to be constructed using mud brick, however they change to a granite core once snefru decides to expand the floor plan for the red pyramid. Theme of the next quiz: what are the innovations made in regards to the pyramids, and what drives this innovation (political, religious, technological changes). The funerary complex features a pavilion to provide shade for people awaiting the funerary boat. It also features a causeway from the pavilion on the nile, this is to provide shade and crowd control. It also features a mortuary temple (a public space for mourners), the temple was also used for the embalming process (this evolves to a separate room later on towards the middle kingdom). The causeway of snefru does not go to the red pyramid, rather it goes to the other burial place (intended misdirection).
