Difference between the early dynasties going into the early kingdom. The two join capitals of egypt were butto and hierakonpolis despite the political unification of egypt. The capital was then moved to memphis which would be considered the halfway point between butto and hierakonpolis (the time taken to move from both butto and hierakonpolis was the same because of the water currents). Originally the sed race was every thirty years. One way to prove that people invited from the nomes attended the sed race was to take a memento from the pharaoh, as we have with ivory sed figurines. People were also expected to give gifts to the king which is the reason why they start collapsing the time between each sed race. Egyptians were heavily influenced from the babylonians, they take in the blue tiles and make them key in the palace of the pharaoh in the early dynasties.
