The standard drawing convention for a technical drawing is a three-view orthographic projection . ** the lines in this diagram must align with the other views (for the diagram on the right) Leave a grap between the end of an extension line and the object to which it refers. When two or more lines coincide, there is a convention called precedence of lines" to establish which is visible. There are two fundamental rules for dimensions. Dimensions must describe the complete geometry of the part. Dimensions from visible lines, not hidden lines. Repeated regular identical features may be dimensioned once. ** figure (a) is overdimensioned, the measurement of 15 is not necessary (redundant) ** sometimes, only two views are necessary, sometimes even only one view is necessary (when the views are redundant, or identical) Sometimes, the rules of projection must be violated to improve clarity.
