Synonyms: hurricanes: atlantic and east pacific, cyclones: indian ocean, south pacific, australia, typhoons: west pacific. Ingredients to form a hurricane: water temperature > 27 degrees c, warm, humid, unstable air, significant coriolis effect to sustain rotating surface winds. In the northern hemisphere, surface winds rotating clockwise. You need all 5 of these to have a hurricane form. You cannot have a hurricane form off the coast of canada cause the water is too cold.
