If theatres wanted the big movies they had to take the smaller ones ( block booking ) Star vehicle = most visible and valuable resource, each studio"s style = shown by their stars, known for style and type of film (ex: one studio known for musicals) Star"s popularity created automatic market and reduced risks (not necessarily the case now) (now the franchise, ex: marvel = more of a guarantee that people will see it than the stars)
