Body movement as language: this is the way she understands the world. What is she thinking while making art? (while ilming the village trilogy, she thought of these : in words: stuter, cold, waiing, anxiety, reunion, brothers, lovers, king, family, joy. When people ilm movement, they"re irst insinct is to move more, which is not always the best technique. Film takes a lot of breaking down. Her work is oten about how bodies carry memory. Performing & direcing at the same ime is really hard -> trust your cinematographer. Constantly negoiaing with yourself when making a ilm. Cinema has a language and if you don"t use it, you are not making a ilm; you are recording something. Easier nowadays to make a ilm because of the tools (e. g. iphones) But compeiion is much wider because anyone can make a ilm".
