GEOG 1010 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Fluid Parcel, Water Cycle, Xeroderma
Document Summary
Movement of water among the great global reservoirs. Cycling of water in and out of the atmosphere is an important aspect of weather patterns. Water can exist in 3 states on earth: Change of state from solid to liquid or liquid to gas absorbs latent heat from the surroundings. This means latent heat is released when clouds form (condensation)& absorbed when water evaporates from the planets surface. Humidity: a measure of the water vapour in air. Maximum quantity of moisture that air can hold goes up with air temperature. The greater the vapour the more humid the atmosphere is. Maximum- the largest amount possible at the current temperature. Dry skin is from the dry air that surrounds us. Temperature at which a mass of air holds its maximum capacity of water vapour. For condensation to happen , the water droplets need a solid surface.
