Media also became global during 90"s and start of 21st century. Root causes of terrorism have not been adequately addressed. Geography of terrorism not understood- not thought of in terms of its global impact. Externalizing the threat of terrorism- seen to come from the outside. Establish a difference between them and us. Center of instability : middle east and extending a bit beyond it (afghanistan, iran, iraq, israel, jordan, etc. ) Us state department list of concern- afghanistan, iran, iraq, north. Us made strong effort to shift attention from domestic terrorism to foreign terrorism- analysts allege political motive.
