Document Summary

Prior to the start of this course, i had a decent amount of knowledge about indigenous peoples and their territories from previous university classes. However, i am aware this understanding could be more extensive had my indigenous education started earlier. I was only aware of indigenous territories from certain road signs throughout travels and land acknowledgements at the beginning of presentations i attended. University, i was unlikely to be able to locate any reserves or name the indigenous group it belongs to. Simply put, my understanding was limited and my education was formed on the ignorance of avoiding a large portion of canadian history. Indigenous studies course in my first year of university out of growing curiosity following my reading of tanya talaga"s seven fallen feathers. Indigenous studies courses over four years that have uncovered the truths of what i was never taught.
