You will be prepared to plan, research, and write 4th year seminar research papers. You will be prepared to do well in 4th year seminars more generally (handle the readings, the independence, the classroom interaction and the assignments) You will become a more skilled critical reader, thinker and writer. More readings no lectures you have to do the readings ahead of time, the professor will not summarize them in class. More independence (in choosing topics) attendance and class participation. The key to learning something: doing it, asking questions about it, getting feedback, doing it better. You have to do research (in the class and outside) Lectures are not a good use of our class time. You absolutely have to do the readings before class. I will not summarize the readings in class.
