Can be seen with a space, a hyphen (-), or no spacing at all between lexemes. You can tell it is a compound by the stress pattern. We don"t typically make compound verbs, if we do, they are almost always a back formation babysit, bartender. Noun incorporation: (polysynthetic) noun + verb compounding (verb) The only way english can incorporate an object is if it"s a verb being turned into a noun. We"re okay with variations of nouns and adjectives though. We also like to compound sentences with nouns. Facts: no two inflected forms together, only one. You say child support (even if there is more than one kid) Syntax: the head gets inflected, the dependant doesn"t (one on the right) gives the class to the overall category. Red-head" is a type of person, not a type of head. Exo-centric: gets their semantic ead from outside of the term. None of these shoes are made of the items listed.
