She receives approval from the pope in 1148 to document her visions: deemed revelations from the holy spirit. Name of the book of visions by hildegard. Know the ways : pope asked hildegard to write about all visions, he read them to church leaders. Claimed the holy spirit was speaking through her. Founded her own nunnery in 1150 and another in 1165. Paralysis and sickness convinced him it was god"s unhappiness. Hildegard von bingen: excerpts from ordo virtutum (c 1150) The soul (anima) goes on a voyage: tempted by sin, the virtues attempt to rescue the soul. 16 virtues vs the devil: humility, love, obedience, faith, hope, chastity, innocence , devil taunts virtues stating that virginity is against god"s command, chastity: but it was a virgin who brought forth christ, chastity puts heel on satan"s head.
