Prosocial behavior: actions/behavior that will benefit either the individual or society as a whole. Prosocial behavior includes behavior that shows respect for others but also allows society to operate. Reciprocation: the obligation or feeling of obligation to return the favor. People are more likely to accept someone else"s generosity if they perceive that they will be able to pay the person back. Norms: the standards which are implemented informally to inform society of what is typical or acceptable. Norm"s are what promote fairness within society and influence an individual"s decision to contribute to the common good: norms include: Equity: individuals receive benefits based off of what they contribute. What are the interpersonal concerns about the consequences of outperforming others: fairness is important to human nature; this is why when we outperform other individuals we struggle with missed emotions. We feel both pride and pleasure while also being scared and anxious that the people they outperformed will reject them or retaliate.
