Civil settings e. g. civil commitment; involuntary commitment; not criminally responsible (ncr) mental health situation rather than criminal justice system. Static risk factors: fixed variables predictive of criminal behavior (not changeable through intervention) (e. g. criminal history) Criminogenic needs): changeable variables predictive of criminal behavior; when changed, are associated w/ corresponding increases or decreased in criminal behavior (*difficult to demonstrate such correlations: stable: slowly changing (e. g. antisocial attitudes, acute: rapidly changing (e. g. intoxication) True positive (tp): the assessor predicts an offender will reoffend and he does reoffend. True negative (tn): the assessor predicts an offender will not reoffend and he does not reoffend. False positive (fp): the assessor predicts an offender will reoffend and he does not reoffend.
