One place to go when you don"t want to think of yourself as a computer don"t know everything yet. The information processing model has been incredibly successful in explaining everything from neurons up to complex actions. Although there is much we have not figured out yet, in principle the information processing approach can work. We do not understand consciousness - what it is, what it"s for and how it evolved. Awakeness 0 you are awake not asleep. Introspection 0 you are aware of your inter thoughts and feelings. Report-ability you repot to others what you are thinking. Self consciousness you are think about yourself, you are away of yourself. Attention you are paying attention to something. Knowledge - you are aware of some knowledge. Awareness definition - we have access to information that we may use in some way either to have a thought or acton.
