Document Summary
Internal state includes affect, cognition and arousal: example: someone scores high on psychopathy, perceive ambiguous comment as an attack. Interpreted as a threat, they are autonomically aroused and feel angry: appraisal = impulsive action which results in violence, general aggression model takes into account the person, the situation and the interplay between them. Instrumental/proactive: planned, external motivator (revenge, power, money, nto emotionally driven, planned, premeditated, cognitive disotrtions and entitlement. If someone is willing to engage in violence ot get something then they must really think that they are deserving of the outcome: arousal is coincidental (not a good treatment target) It is not a precursor to the violence: affective/reactive, emotionally-driven, high arousal (treatment target, triggers are easier to identify (physiological symptoms, faulty thinking, the majority of violence falls under this, mostly a reaction to a situation. Lack of self-control: can teach people how to have different appraisals.
