Feminist theory generally highlight a number or points . Gender is a status and power variable. Gender roles and gender role socialization are powerful forces in any culture. Many women"s problems caused by external forces. Our understanding of gender is socially constructed. Women and girls account for 51% of population in canada. Significant wage gap (71% of what men make) Education is not translated into labor force: women are more educated now than ever but there is gender polarization in certain fields like engineering. When you ask kids where they plan on being when they grow up: girls- health, boys- engineering and computing. Women are underrepresented in key leadership positions: university presidents are mostly male. Women in high power executive roles: 4. 9% of women are ceo"s. Women in canada are more likely to live under poverty than men. Women who are lone parents are more likely to live in poverty.
