MIAP-130 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Logic Pro, Printed Circuit Board, High Fidelity
Document Summary
A printed circuit board containing the principal components of a computer with connectors into which other circuit boards can be slotted. Connects all the computers parts together and makes them work as one. Contains the circuitry for the central processing unit, keyboard, monitor, ram, system hard. Contains pci and/or pcie expansion slots which allow for the computer"s functionality to be expanded. When purchasing be sure to take into account your requirements for expansion slots and ports for usb, firewire and thunderbolt devices. Some motherboards do not have pci slots and only offer pci express slots (pcie), which could be a problem if you are using a pci sound card. The cpu is the brain of the computer. It processes all of the instructions necessary for the computer to perform any given task. Speed is the biggest concern with regard to the cpu. The cpu"s speed is measured by the completed instruction cycles per second (ips).
