Some motherboards do not have pci slots and only offer pci express slots (pcie), which could be a problem if you are using a pci sound card. The cpu is the brain of the computer. It processes all of the instructions necessary for the computer to perform any given task. Speed is the biggest concern with regard to the cpu. The cpu"s speed is measured by the completed instruction cycles per second (ips).
