Animals too have complex ways of communicating with each other. Definition of communication: transmission of meaningful messages form one individual to another. Implies that meaning is at the basis of communication. Implies that for meaning to exist, these messages must take place in a form that makes sense to the interlocutor. Body language (postures and gestures), physical contact, eye contact, facial expressions, gate, and so on. Language: code for communication, consisting of a set of symbols and a set of rules for constructing messages. Communication is the process of sending and receiving messages. Language: a systematic set of symbols and signs with learned and shared meanings. Humans can communicate with words, either spoken or signed, with gestures and other forms of body language such as clothing and hairstyle, and through methods such as telephone calls, (cid:862)s(cid:374)ail(cid:863) (cid:373)ail, a(cid:374)d e(cid:373)ail. Most agree that language and its subvarieties are systems of symbols and signs, and rules for their meaningful combination and use.
