Is (information system): collects, processes, stores, analyzes and disseminates information, its purpose is to get the right info to the right people in the right amount in the right format. Application software (games, microsoft word, internet browsers, databases) Software: a set of computer programs that enable hardware to process data. Systems software: serves as an middle controler between computer hardware and applications. Application software: a set of computer instruction that provide more specific function. Open source software (like android, linux) pros and cons. Operating system: supervises the overall operation of computer. Control and support peripherals like printers, keyboard, mouse. Directs computers functions to support application software (tells skyrim to use nvidia graphics card to look nice)
