Excel: spreadsheet application (build & manipulate worksheets & workbooks) Worksheet: spreadsheet (can contain data, values, formulas &/or charts) Information organized in a grid layout of rows & columns. Ex: ms excel (electronic spreadsheet) allows quicker & more accurate changes than manual ledger. Ex: sales projections: project sales to be 5% higher next month & compare projection with actual sales figure for that month. Decide purpose of spreadsheet & how it will be constructed. Make it obvious where data is to be entered. Enter data & set up formulas allow excel to do automatic calculation. Test multiple times (make sure results are what you expect) Know your actual results to know results on excel are correct. Formula bar: displays contents of active cell d4. Worksheets (sheet2 & sheet 3) available in workbook. Worksheet divided into rows (numbered) & columns (lettered) Cell: intersection of row & column & cell reference: address of intersection.
