Cultural consumption cult grew not in opposition to commercial or academic a reaction but not in opposition! but as a post 1950s economic & intellectual development led to: College film clubs also led to things like: appreciation of low brow & popular culture, midnight movie crazy of the 1970s, eventually, fans would go to college & study these films. Now we have the movie buffs who are film professors. Which helped to legitimize this cultural interest cult is consumer driven! Consumer created: makes it highly social, malleable.
