History of the planet, putting things in perspective We talk about saving ourselves, planet would be much better off if we just disappeared. Acid rain (caused by mixture of certain chemicals in atmosphere, from fossil fuels) Ozone depletion (blocks uv rays from the sun) Need to deal with 3 important aspects that led to all the collapses that plagued previous civilizations: the runway train. The rise in population and pollution, the acceleration of the technology and concentration of wealth and power, are all runway trains. Poverty is key element ( they"re all linked to poverty) Hostility to change from vested interests, coupled with inertia at all: the dinosaur. Rooted in market fundamentalism idea that markets will solve all. Like dinosaurs, the days are numbered for these outdated ideas: the house of cards.
