Terrorism aka weapon of the weak, is the use of violence by non-state groups to inspire fear by atacking civilians or symbolic targets and eliminaion opposiion groups. Historically, the term terrorism described state violence against ciizen. Overime, there has been a transiion to use of violence by small non-state groups to achieve poliical change, although state do someime sponsor or engage in terrorist acts. Terrorists chose to target symbolic values of their destrucion to moivate followers and to insill fear in the enemy"s camp. Four types of terrorist organizaion: let-wing terrorists (radical liberals/socialists) communist period, right wing terrorists (radical conservaive) skinhead and and fascism period, ethno-naionalists"/separaists" terrorists; decolonizaion period following ww2 and religious or scared terrorists. Terrorist groups are mostly isolated cells with an overall poor structure. Its very challenging for terrorist groups to achieve change. Increasing claims in the populaion of northern ireland to separate from the uk. Catholics republican vs loyalist/unionist protestants; stay in the uk.
