2016-09-27 4:30:00 pm the athenians population was : 10-1 or 10-7 ( the sparta"s were scared) Many slaves stayed behind: in the war a lot of spartan man died, spartans were practicing eugenics, xenophobic society: they did not like outsiders. They started volunteering because spartan"s did not have enough man. In a lot of cases they gave them their freedom in exchange. They were not allowed full spartan citizenship: lower then citizens but higher then slaves. Usually spartan fathers would take care of them because they were. They went to sparta and asked the coritians. State of nature movement into -> political society. What would be life without a government: hobbes, greeks of that time of period lived a savage living. No farming etc: human relationships = everyone carried weapons, no consideration of justice. Progress in social security + wealth = polis.
