Part of how people will respond to stress, and how they cope, at least at an emotional level. There are differences in how people will cope with different issues which has to do with personality. Someone who completes this inventory will either score high or low on a dimension, and there are particular characteristics associated with these low or high score dimensions. Longitudinal study that has been going on since 1990, in which they asked part over the age of 50 to complete le neo personality inventory. They also acquired data from the health status of the participants. Rates of major & minor illnesses. Study : looked into white blood cells and contrasted it with big five questionnaire results. Conscientiousness = decreased expression of pro-inflammatory genes. Working is a very important component of being happy. It gives a sense of purpose, provides opportunities. Trusting, altruistic, affectionate, value getting along with others.
