There is debate as to the exact nature of this figure. Is he simply a human being: that is, the davidic messiah, most scholars do not think so: the figure is described as being like a human being. A strong minority of scholars think so: ywhw traditionally rode on clouds, the son of man arrives on clouds, yhwh was also israel"s representative in heaven. 8 when elyon (= most high) divided the nations and apportioned their boundaries he did so according to the number of the sons of god, 9 however, the portion of yhwh was his own people; jacob"s territory was his possession. (deut 32:8-9 my translation : the temple of jerusalem was the temple to god"s name (yhwh) If the son of man was viewed as the yhwh manifestation of god: that is the storm warrior manifestation, as opposed to the ancient of days manifestation.
