In the year 66 another revolt takes place. Anti-taxation protests lead to romans raiding temple, which leads to revolt. High eschatological expectation seems to have fueled the hopes for success. This was also during a period of unrest after emperor nero"s death. There were three or four emperors in short succession. It thus took a while for the roman"s to respond. They did with force and brutality after an initial defeat. They were praying and sacrificing in the temple until the last moment. The temple was flattened and a sacrifices made to roman gods. The land of judah was denuded of trees to make crucifixes. Those who survived were taken away in slavery. Apocalyptic message kingdom is at hand: repent and be forgiven. Leadership message disciples must give up everything and be willing to die. Message to those opposing god is loving and merciful and wants sinners to repent. The teaching of jesus: apocalyptic message of good news.
