The yellow wallpaper: the main female protagonist thinks that she is being treated well, but she is being imprisoned. John brings her there with the ideas that they are going to enjoy this little get away, but in fact, he is hiding her away from the population. The estate is far from the other houses, so no social contact. John is trying to keep her out of the public"s eyes: he tells her that she is not as ill as she thinks she is. Observant neglect if he acknowledges that she is as sick as she thinks she is, then it will be so. She tries to visit her relatives by making an argument with john (the judge) and her acting as a lawyer trying to defend herself, but she loses. The furniture is not comfortable, she cannot rearrange anything in the room, she has no power along with the fact that the bed is nailed down.
