At around 3:30pm, an emergency room (er) physician from a local hospital calls you to report that he has seen seven patients in the last two hours with severe gastroenteritis. Several of the patients mentioned that they had attended a community fundraising barbecue earlier in the day and became ill shortly after eating. The er physician suspects that this may just the beginning of a foodborne illness outbreak.
