Mesopotamia suffered extreme heat, wind storms, and there were rather few natural defences in this area. It was necessary for the mesopotamian population to set up a good trading relationships with people who have wood, and stone. The sumerian are on of the main cultures in mesopotamia, and they had created many settlements. (eridu, uruk, and umma) The sumerian had a different language than the rest of the population, and this led to the creation of cuneiform writing (impressed on clay)
