31 b. c octavian would become consul again (already decided upon), so 32 b. c was a grey area. Makes it sound like cleopatra is in charge of antony; puts herself on roman coinage. The depiction of antony becoming more eastern, adopting eastern deities cleopatra has bewitched antony and wants to rule the romans. Antony needed cleopatra and her wealth to fund his wars both in the east and against octavian. Tries to bring back a golden age and social norms for a period that he thought existed in the past. Tries to push traditional family values but seen as breaking them. Antony"s supporters flee rome know war is going to be declared soon. Antony is defeated, flees back to alexandria, not enough troops to defend octavian doesn"t attack right away. Has to clean up a revolt led by lepidus" son. Octavian comes out on top as supreme ruler. 30 b. c goes to egypt to deal with antony and cleopatra.
