PHYL 2041 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Afferent Nerve Fiber, Axon Terminal, Spinal Cord
Document Summary
Nervous system = control system of the body control netwoek that allows an organism to interact with its environment (external and internal). The nervous system can be divided into the cns and pns/ Pns = afferent (sensory) and efferent divison (nervous system (cns) to the peripheral response to the environment). Those informations are sent to cns where the information is possessed by the brain and the brain processes the information, and give order to the motor divison (efferent) to elicit a proper response. Afferent division of pns can detect all of the information including internal and external, and this information gets sent to the cerebral cortex. The brain would give order to the efferent division of the pns. The different divisons can be divided into the sympathetic, parasympathetic, and enternic nervous system. Enteric nervous = affects the intestinal muscle wall and the mucosa.
