Document Summary
Sensory system: helps accumulate knowledge throughout our life time, experience capturing device, active even during sleeping hours. Sensation: involves transduction of the physical world into neural impulses. S(cid:272)oto(cid:373)a: a regio(cid:374) of the (cid:448)isual (cid:449)orld that you (cid:272)a(cid:374)"t see. 1- all had damage to the occipital lobe. The patients who had damage to the frontal lobe had no visual impairment. Synesthesia: a condition in which one sense is simultaneously perceived as if by one of more additional senses such as sight. Psychophysics: the relationship between physical stimuli and the sensations/ perceptions about them that we experience. Measuring sensation/ perception: detection threshold (absolute threshold): The quantitative amount of a stimulus required to be detected. Procedure: amounts of a stimulus are presented on different trails and the participant reports if a stimulus was detected. Motivation: may be excited/motivated for some experiments and less for some. Attention: may be very attentive at different trials and less at others.
