No need for generalization: your sometimes you r are hard to come by looking for the best. Assumption of low biological variability: common in neuroscience and psychology. Interest in a very small layer of the population: rare disorders od disease, or your interesting in things that aren"t that common. Adding a lot of observations for subjects will not help you. Detailed comparison of subjects: when you are comparing the learning rate or instance between two individuals, every learning organisms within the learning network are different. Often in these studies you know that you will have an effect otherwise you wouldn"t bother, and the magnitude of those effects is important, this is what your going to measure. Consistent trend: unidirectional changes, you"ll find that when you apply the treatment all the subjects respond the same way, this is often an assumption. You apply the treatment and they"re an overall change, but it"s the final score that counts, it"s been averages.
