Dramaturgical model - looking at social life as a drama with roles and scripts. People behave differently front stage (in public) than what they behave back stage (private) The frame changes as you get different pieces of information, the meanings become different. Media studies - more common to think about framing as a fairly deliberate process, this idea is that frames can be selected. If you don" conform there can be negative consequences, erin frederick"s found that women involved not only just had to survive anymore they had to thrive - be positive, Purdue plead guilty about saying their drug(oxycontin) was less addictive than other drugs. Ns physicians changed their prescribing patterns during the news media portraying the drug as a bad drug. News primarily blamed the addicts and criminals but the experts placed most of the blame on the media.
