So if you don"t stand for the flag, you don"t stand for this belief (dominant ideology with religious belief system) Aspects of religion: every religion has an essential cognitive aspect (a belief system associated with transcendent things) Removes chaos and creates a sense of order makes things make sense. The religion shapes what the adherent knows about the world and how they perceive the world. People use these beliefs to make choices, interpret events, and plan actions. Religious beliefs tell us what is good and what is bad, what is helpful and what is harmful: ritual consists of symbolic actions that represent religious meaning. Ritual is the enactment of religious meaning (it brings the meaning to life and makes it represent in the environment) Ritual enactments strengthen and reaffirm the group"s beliefs.
