SUST 2001 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Friedrich Engels, For Marx, Feudalism
Document Summary
More or less begins in earnest with the communicst manifesto by karl marx. Works with fredrick engels to define communist/marxist theory. This is based on the political economic changes throughout time that affect the means and modes of production. Modes - the system through which we produce things. For marx, this is characterized by the dominate modes of production - especially those which take place during the industrialization. These modes affect class relations antiquity to capitalism. Start with modes of production based on small groups and deities. Throughout all this, the progression is to a larger group of elites, and more enfranchised population. Marxists believe that we should move to socialism after capitalism. Marxists believe that the final end of the spectrum is communism. Marxists think that capitalism will collapse in on themselves: If there is a monopoly you control the labour cost. If there is a capitalist system the drive for efficiency leads to competition.
