What is Tort Law 1. Negligence (unintentional) - broad, when the person acts carelessly 2. Strict liability (unintention) – broad, something escapes from their land and causes harm .. ex burning bushes’ smoke affects neighbors 3. Intentional – torts when the person acts in a certain way intentionally What is it?  A body of rights, obligations, and remedies that is applied by courts in civil proceedings to provide relief for persons who have suffered harm from the wrongful acts of others. What does MADD say?  No such thing as an accident it’s called collisions Tort – wrongful act Tortious – wrongful conduct Tort law is a system that allows people to sue other people and seek compensation for their harms History of tort law Wergild – man money Compensation was for only direct causation later on they allowed compensation for indirect compen
