Sa for test #4 5 different sociological research methods and explain. Deviance: behaviour perceived as unacceptable. (very subjective) response to deviance: Low consensus farting in public, picking your nose, etc. Social control: actions intended to prevent, correct, punish, fix or cure behaviours or. If someone breaks the rules they must pay a price. Deterrence: punish, to be used as a lesson/warning to others. (used as an example) Restorative justice: restore whatever was taken from the victim/group from the criminal. Calling someone out for chewing with their mouths open. Parenting, teaching a child what is okay/not okay. How you respond to people based on a look, shunning. Durkheim: anomie: normlessness in times of rapid social change. During times of anomie, we see higher rates of suicide, and criminal deviance. Deviance can show us what needs to change, forces the envelope. Mass media teaches informal social control, what is okay/what isn(cid:495)t.
