Document Summary

Act towards human and nonhuman objects depending on their meaning. How people interact with one another (police officer). How those interactions have an impact down the road (view of the police). Labeling (individual): stereotyping (but looking at someone and placing them in a category). Someone being labeled as something (bad) and adopted that characteristic that would affect them throughout life. The one who isn"t actually into full deviance/deviant career but once in a while may engage in illegal activity (university party with drugs-trafficking). Secondary deviance: the person who has adopted the label of deviant frequently and proudly and engages in a full-blown deviant lifestyle (drug dealer). Drift: adolescence are in a awkward stage since they aren"t an adult but in the process. Not committed to a conventional lifestyle anymore committed to a deviant lifestyle. Depends on whom they are with in a give amount of time.
