Document Summary

Key structures: nuclear pore complex reversible hydrophobic interactions. Very big almost 30 times bigger than ribosomes. Only readily lets through small molecules like water and ions; others are actively transported. Nls (nuclear localization signal) & nes (nuclear export signal) attached to proteins for import to and export from nucleus. Proteins involved: ran: monomeric g protein carrying gtp or gdp in different conformations, importin: attaches to nls and attaches to fg nucleoporins, exportin. Remember: always ran-gtp that exports importin/ imports exportin molecule, ran-gtp, ran-gdp. Rna transport trna: exported by exportin t & ran-gtp. Some mrna that associate w/ hnrnp + other proteins can be exported by ran- dependent reactions dissociated by ran-gap. Multiple nfx1/nxt1 dimers bind to mrnp by associating with mrna and related proteins. Dsp5 protein dissociates nfx1/nxt1 dimers from the mrna. Mrna remodeled translation continues mrna in cytoplasm hnrnp is now called mrnp.
